Slave Laborer to Refugee

Updated: Jul 10

As part of my research on In the Time of Madmen, I was able to find valuable information in the Arolsen Archives. It was a heartbreaking experience to say the least. I can't begin to imagine what the millions of people who lived through the Holocaust went through.

My mom was a teenager when she was taken from her home near Zagreb to Lubeck Germany to serve as a slave laborer. My father was in his 20's when he was taken. After the war, my parents became refugees since they could not return to their homeland because of the takeover by a communist regime.

If you are looking for information on relatives, the Arolsen Archives is a good place to start. Below is an example of the type of information you could find.
